Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified accountant to take their first step into industry or take their next step within industry post qualification. This is an important role to ensure accurate and timely reporting for the business as well as assisting with compliance across regulatory requirements. You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of periodic management accounts, monthly reconciliations, producing insightful MI, supporting the audit process and assisting with the preparation of the business’ VAT returns.

You

A newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with a solid set of proven accountancy skills, an analytical approach and a confident communicator. You are able to demonstrate high levels of financial acumen, are a strong team player, and ready to roll your sleeves up whilst working in a fun, fast paced environment. You will become a valuable part of the crew driving one of the UK’s fastest growing companies forward. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts on a timely basis. Including month end reconciliations, journal postings, accruals and prepayments in compliance with accounting standards.

  • Preparing commentary for the management accounts and providing analysis to support this.

  • Managing the software feeds linked with Xero to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Maintain and reconcile the balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.

  • Working with the Finance Manager and the wider team to ensure accurate reporting in Xero.

  • Preparation of VAT return and HMRC submissions.

  • Assist the Finance Manager with providing deliverables to external auditors to ensure all information is presented in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining technical accounting knowledge to ensure compliance with statutory, as well as internal accounting, control procedures.

  • Other duties as required by the business.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Recently qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with +3 years experience in a finance role.

  • An understanding of daily, weekly, and monthly finance and operating procedures, previous experience in a brand or direct to consumer environment is desirable.

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Reconciliation experience.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheets (we use GSuite) and Xero.

  • A confident communicator, who can ‘translate’ financial information to non-finance people.
