The Role
We are seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to support the continued growth of a fast-scaling DTC business. The Financial Accountant will play a key role in the month-end close process, audit preparation, and financial control, while supporting the Financial Controller in building a robust and scalable finance function.

About the Team
You will be working as part of a world class finance team. We are responsible for ensuring that the finance team can be stewardship to the business and act as a catalyst for growth. You will report to Sarah Wilde who manages the Reporting and Controls team.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Reporting
Lead and deliver the month-end close process to tight deadlines
Implement month end reporting for the business and external stakeholders
Produce detailed management reporting packs, including variance analysis and insights
Continuously improve reporting processes and outputs
Ensure month end reporting is inline with financial reporting standards
Balance Sheet & Financial Control
Maintain full ownership of the UK balance sheet
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
Ensure strong financial controls and audit-ready documentation
Identify and implement improvements to processes and controls
Support the Financial Controller to perform monthly stock reconciliations across systems
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and provisioning
Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to resolve discrepancies
Audit & Compliance
Lead preparation for the year-end audit, including:
Audit schedules and reconciliations
Supporting documentation
Liaison with external auditors
Support delivery of audit within required timelines
Review of statutory accounts and disclosures
Ensure the business is compliant with latest financial reporting standards
VAT & Regulatory Compliance
Support and manage UK and EU VAT compliance, including:
Preparation and review of VAT returns
Ensuring compliance with cross-border e-commerce regulations
Support wider regulatory compliance as the business expands internationally
Business Support
Partner with the Financial Controller to:
Support group reporting and consolidation
Strengthen the control environment
Deliver ad hoc financial analysis
Continuous improvement of month end process/systems.
Ad Hoc Projects
Support finance transformation with the aid of AI
Contribute to system implementations and scaling the finance function
Undertake ad hoc analysis to support commercial decision-making
Support the CFO and FP&A functions as needed
Skills & Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA) with 0-2 years PQE
Strong technical accounting and audit knowledge
Proven experience on month end close and reporting
Experience in implementing reporting and improving controls
Experience in e-commerce, retail, or DTC environment preferred
Experience with stock accounting and inventory systems
Audit experience (practice or industry) is highly desirable
Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills

Typical Hours: 8.30am - 5.30pm 5 days a week.
